Beginner’s Tapestry Workshop
Guided by textile artist Alexandra Navas, in this workshop, you’ll get to explore the basics of high-warp loom weaving in a curious and experimental way.
We’ll work with small individual looms, leftover fabrics from Indoi’s production, natural fibre threads, and a few surprise elements along the way.
You’ll have the chance to experiment with your creativity while I share a bit of my own artistic process. Together, we’ll discover how to let your imagination flow and connect with a tradition that’s both ancient and full of craft. It’s a space to create, relax, and enjoy the process together.
About Alexandra Navas
Born in Colombia, I spent my childhood between Cartagena de Indias, Mexico City, and Madrid. I now live in Barcelona.
I’m a textile artist, and through my work, I aim to bridge the physical and cultural distances between Europe and Latin America, weaving together the worlds that exist within me.
I’m fascinated by traditional crafts, experimenting with materials and textures, and creating unique pieces that carry symbolic meaning. My practice is eclectic and constantly evolving, combining techniques like high-warp weaving and tufting with materials such as jute, hemp, wool, cotton, and silk. Gold often features in my work as a nod to the pre-Columbian cultures of my homeland.
I work in the format of wall hangings, woven sculpture and artistic installations, for personal projects, collaborations, and private commissions. My inspiration comes from nature in all its forms, my Colombian roots, and the ancestral world, always seen through a feminine perspective.
