That’s why we’re very happy to invite you to a new creative gathering in our Barcelona space: a Beginner’s Tapestry Workshop, guided by textile artist Alexandra Navas.

An intimate workshop designed for anyone curious about weaving, natural fibres, and ancestral textile practices — no previous experience needed.

A tapestry weaving workshop rooted in tradition and creativity

This beginner-friendly workshop offers an introduction to high-warp loom tapestry weaving, an ancient textile technique that invites slowness, presence, and experimentation.

Working on small individual looms, participants will explore the foundations of tapestry weaving in a relaxed and intuitive way, focusing on texture, rhythm, and personal expression rather than perfection.

The workshop reflects INDOI’s values of slow making, reuse of materials, and conscious creativity, using leftover fabrics from our own production alongside natural fibre threads.

Meet Alexandra Navas, textile artist based in Barcelona

Alexandra Navas is a Colombian-born textile artist based in Barcelona. Her practice bridges Europe and Latin America, weaving together heritage, nature, and ancestral knowledge.

She works with materials such as jute, hemp, wool, cotton, and silk, often incorporating touches of gold as a symbolic reference to pre-Columbian cultures. Her textile work is rich in texture and symbolism, carrying a strong feminine and intuitive perspective.

During the workshop, Alexandra will guide participants step by step, sharing both technical foundations and creative freedom.

What you’ll experience during the workshop

This tapestry workshop is designed as a moment to disconnect from the rush of everyday life and reconnect with making by hand.

During the session you will:

• Learn the basics of high-warp loom weaving

• Experiment freely with natural fibres and recycled textiles

• Create your own small tapestry to take home
